Portrait of Jean-Olivier Chamberland, founder of Puncheur

Who you'll work with

I'm Jean-Olivier Chamberland, a mechanical engineering graduate with more than 15 years of experience in enterprise systems and digital transformation across manufacturing and technology verticals and four years advising Canadian SMEs on technology and AI. Puncheur brings together a network of collaborators from different backgrounds. We set the structure first, then stay with the mandate through implementation.

  • BDC

Two ways to work together

Advisory mandate

A scoped mandate to set direction: diagnostic, decisions and a prioritized roadmap, with a defined duration and deliverables.

Fractional CIO

Ongoing senior technology leadership for a company that needs a CIO's judgment, not a full-time hire.

Who this is for

  • Technology decisions keep landing on your desk

A new ERP, a CRM, a data project, and no one in-house owns them at a senior level.

  • AI is on every agenda

Everyone is talking about it, but no one can say which use case to fund first, or whether your data is ready.

  • A project is slipping

It's under way, and the schedule, the budget or the integrator relationship is getting away from you.

Three areas, seven services

Direction

Strategy and roadmap, system selection and Fractional CIO: what to do, in what order and on which systems.

AI

AI preparation and AI delivery: choosing the use cases worth doing, checking that your data is ready, then taking the first ones from pilot to production, and coaching your team along the way.

Execution

Implementation support and implementation governance: hands-on help to get projects live, and the oversight that keeps them on track once they're running.

In numbers

  • 15+ years

in enterprise systems, from engineering to advisory

  • 4+ years

advising Canadian SMEs on technology and AI

  • 4-6 weeks

for the shortest mandate, with a written scope before work starts

  • 30 mins

for a first call, with no commitment

Why Puncheur

Most firms are strong at one part of the job: consultancies at the strategy, integrators at the build, AI agencies at the tool. We work across all three. We set direction with management, work through the details with your team and vendors, and build the smaller pieces ourselves when that's faster than bringing someone in.

From the boardroom to the systems

A mechanical engineering degree and 15+ years on ERP, CRM, PLM, MES, integration and data, across aerospace, telecom, rail and pharma. We're as comfortable in a management meeting as in the systems behind it, and we turn technical reality into business decisions.

Structured, time-boxed mandates

Every mandate has a defined scope, duration, deliverables and decision rhythm. You always know what comes next, and what we're aiming to put in your hands in the first weeks.

Remote-first, on site when it counts

Most of the work runs remotely: interviews and working sessions by video, decisions and deliverables in writing, short feedback loops. We come on site for the moments that need it, such as a kickoff, an operations walk-through or a key steering meeting. Less time in transit and fewer meetings means more of your budget goes into the work itself. In French or English.

Independent advice

We don't resell software or take commissions from the vendors we recommend. Whether we're selecting a system or acting as your fractional CIO, our recommendation answers to your business, not to a sales target. If a mandate ever involves a commercial relationship with a vendor, we disclose it in writing before work starts.

How a mandate works

  1. Scope

We agree on the question, the scope, the duration and the deliverables before work starts.

Aim:a written scope that states what will be decided, by whom and when.

  2. First weeks

Interviews with your team and a review of your systems and data.

Aim:improvements that don't need to wait for the final report, identified and started.

  3. Build

The roadmap, the system decision or the first AI use case, depending on the mandate, built with your team.

Aim:decisions made along the way, not saved for a final presentation.

  4. Handover

Your team owns the result: the documents, the decisions and a clear plan for what comes next.

Aim:next steps your team can start the following week.
